Understanding the facts of building muscles and losing weight
People
get discouraged and frustrated when beginning a weight training program and
usually stop the workout program before being able to see results. People need
to understand the chemistry of what happens.
When you
start working out you may find yourself experiencing a small amount of weight
gain (yes, we understand that you wanted to work out to lose weight).
Many
people find that they actually gain weight when beginning a fitness program but,
may start to find that their jeans fit better. This is due to the fact you are
building a muscle foundation and you must remember that muscles weigh more than
fat. So, even though you may have gained a few pounds it’s not bad!
Remember
this! The average muscle frame person would be considered overweight by their
height and weight comparison.
Weight Scale – Don’t always believe what you see!
We are so
focused on our weight that many people find themselves evaluating their attitude
for the day based on how much they weigh on a daily basis. Your weight doesn’t
determine much of anything. The weight scale doesn’t determine if you are
healthy regardless if you lose or gain weight. The advice I give my clients is
“stay away from the weighing yourself”.
Keeping
the weight off all starts in the morning!
One of
the best tips that I give anyone who wants to lose weight, increase energy, and
maintain a good health is to eat breakfast in the morning. Eating breakfast is
a habit that will curb your appetite and help lower your body mass index. Most
people that I’ve talked to who have a problem with losing weight usually skip a
morning meal. A simple morning meal would make a world of difference in
building the body you dreamed of. A simple morning meal should consist of a
good source of fiber and carbs (oatmeal, wheat toast, fruit) and protein (eggs,
meat).
Tips
to help you become a morning person:
- Allow
time to eat breakfast and think about your day
- Keep
your meal simple and small
- Always
include a good source of protein, fiber and complex carbs (eggs, yogurt,
cottage cheese, lean meat and fruit)
Additional help to morning training: Doing cardio in the morning on an empty
stomach for a minimum of 30 minutes will burn fat faster versus doing it later
in the day. Plus doing cardio in the morning will help you wake up and
increase your appetite that will enable you to eat a good breakfast.

Used Shoes -
Used shoes feel like new to Someone who is poor
The Art For Humanity and Dirty Boots Adventure are Aggressively in need of good
used shoes (especially Tennis shoes). Before you throw away any pair of shoes,
please consider giving them to someone who would love a pair of new shoes. An
old pair of shoes (any kind) to you is new to someone who can’t afford it. If
you have a couple of pair of old shoes lying around the house, stores in the
closet or you haven’t worn in over six months. Please give us a call at 703-622-
8915 or email:

Safety Tips –
A safe life is a healthy life!
Dirty Boots Adventure is a company truly for women. We will always do our best
to provide anyone with tips that will give them a safe and healthy lifestyle.
The following are safety tips that individuals should think about for his/her
safety:
1. Next to a dog, a whistle is a person’s best friend – keep a whistle handle
when you are walking at night, alone or in your car. Blowing a whistle will
allow people to hear you if you are in trouble.
2. No headphones – Though the Ipod and CD players are awesome inventions, you
may want to think twice before playing it while you are running or walking
outside. Having them on your ears lowing your perception around you, which will
make you vulnerable to becoming a victim.
3. Walk with a friend – Walking in numbers is still one of the best ways to stay
safe. Before going home alone at night, try asking a friend to walk with you or
to follow you home. You may think it’s an inconvenience to your friend after you
make it home safely.
Self Defense – Wouldn’t it be nice to know that if you had to fight off an
attacker you will know how to do it. Most women are too scared to fight off an
attacker because they don’t know how. Take a quick course in self-defense. Every
woman should know basic self-defense moves to defend herself. A few classes
could save your life. (JCT 11/15/2005)

Self Defense
Self Defense For Women -
Every 2 1/2 minutes somewhere in America someone is Sexually Assaulted
We live in a world that is dangerous and very deceiving. Every day people are
playing with danger by running at night, drinking into intoxication, going home
with someone they don’t know, walking alone, etc. Women especially need to be
more aware of there surroundings.
Be safe and have fun!
All it takes is one time to be raped, sexually assaulted or harassed to change
your way of life. Don’t become a statistic!
